You And I

These lines drop in my heart like lyrics to a melody
So, I sing.
With poetry as the only way,
I psalm them out to Abba, Abba my Father.
The road once was gowned in solitude and panic;
My eyes fixated solely on the disenchanting depths of lightlessness…

Till You emerged,
Shining Your marvellous light unto my waters as in Genesis – You did.
Your key was one none could refrain.
Aye, You altered the rhythm of my melody.
Oh, I see the “me” You’re making.
It did take me a while to realise that,
I am no longer just “me”, but now a “You-in-me”.

Many perceive You as a mere fairytale – a myth for a bedtime story.
But to me, Abba,
You are my entire reality.
Without whom, I am nothing to deem.
Ahead of me lie the treasures to hunt, like Candy Crush.
Yet there dwell the monsters, too.
Honestly, be it me alone, Abba
I would flee – OH, I would run off as though it’s Temple Run.

But I stay.
For with You within and beside me,
We shall take the bull by the horns together – Hand in hand.
One day at a time – yes, one step at a time.
We shall root out, pull down and destroy all monstrous schemes,
Building and planting Your gracious seeds in their stead.

Certainly, a day down the lane
We shall see face to face,
To celebrate and commemorate our teamwork –
The banquet of the Groom and the Bride.
Till then, Abba, I walk this earth with You.
Eternally, it is You and I…
