Broken Pieces
Broken pieces – shattered and scattered
What shall be of the treasure you held therein? –
All spilt and wasted
If there be worth, it weighs nothing no more
If there be beauty, it appeals to the eyes no more
Yet this brokenness – I heard – is what draws the Saviour near
Thus,
Broken, here, I lay
Scattered, left to decay
And with all might left within and trembling lips, I call Thee by name:
“Lay a touch on me today
For I am thy lowly work in progress
And when thy work is done,
Oh, with all of me such glee there’ll be in glory!
Mend these pieces into thy esteemed masterpiece
For I dare say, Oh, Abba, that is your speciality
Put a price tag on that which man declares ‘worthless ’
Make me as you see, make me as you are
For in your sight,
I am merely not a pack of broken cards
But a complete vessel mapped with arrays of greatness and royalty
Surely, in your eyes, you see nothing but
A perfect, whole vessel of broken pallets…”
[Psalms 31: 12; 2 Tim. 2:20-21]
